WILMINGTON — Marvin Andrew Moore, Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 78. Born on May 14, 1947, in Kinston, NC, Andy lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Andy was a proud Air Force veteran who carried his sense of duty and honor throughout his life. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures, especially spending time at the beach and playing games with his family. Mahjong was a particular favorite, and many fond memories were made around the game table.
A dedicated former member of the Fuquay-Varina Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, and the Shriners, Andy also attended Pine Valley Methodist Church for two years, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to his community.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Virginia Moore of New Bern, NC, and his brother, Bobby Brown. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his devoted wife, Mary Norris Moore, formerly of Plymouth, NC, now residing in Wilmington, NC; his son, Marvin Andrew Moore III, and wife, Bethany, of Evans, GA; his daughter, Leslie Moore, and husband, Ryan Tabor, of Wilmington, NC; his brother, Mike Moore; and his sisters, Lisa Mallard and husband, Rob, and Marcia Potter.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Andy’s memory.
His family and friends will forever cherish the warmth and kindness he brought into their lives. Andy’s legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew him.
