WILMINGTON — Jack Timothy Owen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 27, 2026, in Wilmington, NC. Born on July 15, 1953, in Forsyth County, NC, Jack lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion. He was 72 years old.
Jack spent over a decade working at Warner Lambert, where he forged lasting friendships and honed his skills. He then dedicated 20 years to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, serving his community with integrity and commitment.
An avid NASCAR enthusiast and devoted Boston Red Sox fan, Jack’s love for sports extended to his alma mater, UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a proud supporter. Whether cheering for his favorite team or enjoying the tranquility of the beach with a fishing pole in hand, Jack embraced life with enthusiasm and joy.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Thomas Owen and Sarah Virginia Walker Owen. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his devoted wife of 50 years, Malinda Owen; daughter Angela Woodcock and her husband Robert; son Jeff Owen and his wife Angel; and his treasured grandchildren, Clay, Jacob, Laney, Larkin, Hailey, Presley, and Ethan. He also leaves behind a great-grandson, Daniel; his brother Steve Owen and his wife Carol; cousin Kathy Tanner; mother-in-law Chrystal Crosby; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held in Forsyth County at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the man who touched so many lives with his kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit. Jack’s warmth and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
