BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Cynthia “Cindy” Prine Milam, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Chapel Hill, NC, at the age of 77. Born on October 4, 1948, in Waterboro, SC, Cindy lived a life filled with joy, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Cindy’s journey through life was marked by her vibrant spirit and selfless nature. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend who always put the needs of others above her own. Her infectious smile and warm heart touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know her.

A proud graduate of Rice Business School, Cindy held an Associate’s degree and used her skills in various roles throughout her career. With her entrepreneurial venture owning a successful cleaning business where she thrived, Cindy’s work ethic was unmatched. Her meticulous attention to detail extended beyond her professional life, as seen in her beautiful rose garden—a testament to her nurturing soul.

Shallotte, NC, was where Cindy called home, and it was here that she cultivated lifelong friendships and became an integral part of the community. As a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Shallotte, Cindy found joy in serving others, especially through her volunteer work with Adopt an Angel, where she made a significant difference in the lives of many.

Her passions were many: traveling to new places, enjoying the serenity of the beach, attending concerts, and sharing meals with loved ones. Above all, Cindy cherished her family. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Erin Jean Milam (and spouse Damion Hancock) of Wilmington, NC, and Caitrin Ann Milam of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and her beloved son Wade Young Milam ll, Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Caidon Wescott and Jaxon Milam, who brought endless joy to her life.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Marion Claire Prine, her mother, Lily Mae Spell, her ex-husband, Wade Young Milam, and her son, Wade Young Milam II who sadly passed away on January 17th. She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren. And numerous nieces and nephews from Charlotte, and cousins from Walterboro, Cottageville and Columbia SC, who will forever treasure her memory.

A celebration of Cindy’s remarkable life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Shallotte, located at 4486 Main Street, Shallotte, NC, 28470, along with her beloved son Wade Young Milam ll. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for a woman whose love knew no bounds.
