WILMINGTON — John Patrick Munroe III, age 77, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2026.
John was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, alongside his brother, James Munroe, and his sister, Jeria Coleman. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity; and met the love of his life, Georgia Munroe. John proudly served in the United States Army for 30 years, dedicating his life to his country with honor and integrity.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Georgia Munroe; his daughter, Courtney Munroe Steelman; his son-in-law, Joshua Steelman; his two beloved grandchildren, Charlotte and Harper Steelman; and his son, John Patrick Munroe IV; his sister and her husband; Jeria and Steve Coleman; his niece, Kayla Coleman; his nephew, Chris Coleman; and his great neice Anna Coleman.
John’s kindness, strength, sense of humor, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
