WILMINGTON — Our Beloved Doris V. McIntyre was born to the late Rudolph and Thelma Cromartie on February 4, 1937 in Bladen County, NC. She departed peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Novant Health Medical Center.
She attended Booker T. Washington High School but graduated from East Arcadia High School.
She was an entrepreneur for many years, having her own food business. She was awarded Business woman of the year in 1995. After ending her business she started at Corning where she retired in October 2002.
She supported many organizations and sponsored sports programs for kids. Doris was a busy individual who loved flowers, gardening, and keeping up her yard.
Doris leaves to cherish her memories, 3 sons; Lewis Jones, Gary Jones, and Herb Brown, 1 daughter; Brenda McIntyre, Grandsons; Kamala Dowd, Jamel Hale, and the late Traymne Brown, Granddaughters; Dorisha McIntyre,Chevelle Howard (Rod), Shamel Harris (Antonio), Shanequa Brown, and Jasmine Hale, 6 sisters; Ethel Hinton, Mary Cromartie, Myrtle Smith (excel), Jackie Willard, Theodosia Beatty (Gene), and Miriam Cromartie, 3 brothers; Rudolph Cromartie Jr., and Harold Cromartie (leona), and the late Carl Cromartie, 2 god children; Michael Dethrone and Yvonne Vincent, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at New Covenant Holiness Church, 1020 Dawson Street, Wilmington, North Carolina 28401.
