WILMINGTON — Jerry Allen Litchfield of Wilmington, NC passed away Monday January 19, 2026 at Cape Fear Lifecare after a brief battle with small cell lung cancer.
Jerry was born January 13, 1959 in Clinton, NC. He was the youngest of three children. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle. He shared a special bond with his best friend Jeff Cahoon. Their friendship was built on laughter, loyalty & a lifetime of memories that Jerry carried always.
Jerry was predeceased by his father Teddy R. Litchfield and brother-in-law Nelson Potter. He is survived by his mother, Jean Litchfield of Wilmington,NC; step-father Ronnie Long of Wilmington, NC; brother Randy Litchfield of Rose Hill, NC; sister Phyllis L Potter of Wilmington, NC; neice Tracy Hedgepeth (Rich)of Wilmington, NC and nephew Brian Litchfield (Holly)of Currie, NC.
Jerry was a successful crane operator for a multitude of large construction companies which allowed him to travel all across the country until his declining health required him to retire. He enjoyed surf fishing, tinkering on automobiles and spending time at the beach. His faithful companion was Sweetpea his dachshund who was always by his side.
Jerry was somewhat of a free spirit, a little mischievous and unapologetically himself. He will be forever missed by his family.
In accordance with his wishes there will not be a memorial service but a personal spreading of his ashes at a later date.
