WILMINGTON — Dylan Charles Hennessey, 35, of Wilmington, NC passed away on January 2, 2025. He lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left this world the same way he moved through it—fearlessly and with conviction.
Born on May 9, 1990, in Red Bank, NJ, to Edward and Jean Hennessey. Dylan was a force in every room he entered. He lived on the edge, driven by instinct, loyalty, and an unshakable sense of who he was. Life with him was never quiet or ordinary; it was full of adventure, laughter, and moments that became legends among those who knew him. He didn’t just pass through people’s lives—he shaped them.
Dylan is survived by his family, including his mother and father Jean & Edward Hennessey, his children Riley Marie, Karley Rose and Charles Dean, and his sisters Jillian Hennessey & Karen Valente. He is also survived by his best friends— Richard Macciommei, JD Sorrels, Steve Fox, JT O’Shea, Mason Teachey and Tyler Weeks—men who were far more than friends. They were his brothers in every way that mattered. Together they shared a bond forged by time, unwavering loyalty, and experiences that cannot be explained—only lived. They stood with him through everything, and that brotherhood will carry his spirit forward.
To know Dylan was to be changed by him. He challenged people, protected those he loved, and lived with a lionheart that few possess. His presence was powerful, his absence immeasurable.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington with Pastor Merrell McKoy officiating.
In honor of Dylan, the family encourages attendees to share stories, raise a glass, and remember him as he was—steadfast, relentless, and larger than life.
Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family here.
