
WILMINGTON — Alec Vann Chambers, 32, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on December 30, 2025, after spending the day with family and friends. Alec was born on August 27, 1993, in San Diego, California, youngest son of Joy L. North and the late Robert D. Chambers.
Alec was a professional skateboarder, with his mother as his biggest advocate. In addition to being a skateboarder, he was a talented artist and also enjoyed being a bartender. He was extremely loved by all who knew him. He was truly one in a million, making a friend of everyone he met. His circle of friends extended from those who knew his whole life, to ones in the skate community, to those he met along his journey. People were drawn to his genuine nature. Alec’s smile lit up a room and he could always make you laugh.
Alec is survived by his biggest fans, his mother, Joy North; brother, Chandler Chambers; grandmother, Sondra North;great aunt and great uncle, Brenda and Ronnie Petrey; uncle, Dean North; two aunts Shannon Twiddy and Allison Garner as well as his step-father, Howard Callender, his cousins and many friends.
In addition to his father, Robert D. Chambers, he was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Alston Lee North.
Family will receive visitors on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 11 AM – 1 PM at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, funeral services will begin at 1 PM, with Pastor Sam Zumwalt officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilmington.
