Norma Eileen Covil Moore (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WILMINGTON — Norma Eileen Covil Moore, 91, of Hampstead, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Davis Community in Wilmington, NC.

She was born in Sneads Ferry, NC on May 4, 1934, the daughter of the late William Earl Covil and Lottie Whitney Covil. She was proceeded in death by her son Tim Moore and grandson Zach Moore. Also remembered are her sisters, Doris Swanson, Faye Pierce, Wilma Auber and her brother, John Covil who all preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Joanne Sandlin (Mike), Kimberly Whittington, Bert Moore (Paula), and Al Moore (Teresa); eight grandchildren, Matt Sandlin (Alena), Shelley Jefferys (Ryan), Kyle Moore, Hunter Moore, Ryan Moore (Laura), Logan Moore (Arun), Alayna Moore, Morgan Whittington (Jeff Harris); Four great-grandchildren (Ayden and Blake Jefferys, Covil Harris, and Spencer Moore), and a sister Hilda Edens.

Born in Onslow County, she moved to Ogden, NC with her parents and siblings early in life. She graduated from New Hanover High School and James Walker School of Nursing (1955) practicing nursing as a Registered Nurse intermittently while raising her family and traveling with her husband Jack (deceased) in the Air Force. Once retired she went on to a second career in Real Estate. She was a lifelong member of Living Waters Ministries; she loved spending time with her family and doing things with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being involved in many hobbies.

The family would like to give special thanks to all her caregivers at God’s Girls, Teresa Wagoner, the staff at the Davis Community, and Doctors Michelle Jones and Belinda McPherson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Living Waters Ministries or Lower Cape Fear Life Care (Hospice) in Wilmington, NC.
