WILMINGTON — Anthony Califano, 67, of North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Ischia, Italy, Anthony built a remarkable life defined by hard work, generosity, and devotion to those he loved most.
An accomplished Wall Street banker, entrepreneur, and facilities director, Anthony approached every endeavor with passion, determination, and integrity. His professional success was matched only by his kindness and the deep respect he earned from colleagues and friends alike.
Family was the heart of Anthony’s world. He loved nothing more than spending time in the kitchen, cooking and sharing meals with his children. His warmth, humor, and boundless love made every gathering special.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Katy Gellert-Califano, his best friend and the love of his life for 27 years. He was a devoted father to Andrew Califano (Esther), Michael Califano, Bridget Marshall (Landry), and Chris Califano (Jessica), and a proud grandfather to Everly, Declan, Charlie, and Shepherd.
He will be remembered as a man with a huge heart — always ready to help, to listen, and to share his love freely with family and friends.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Culinary Institute of America for the Anthony Bourdain ‘78 Legacy Scholarship in his honor.
