LELAND — Mark Edward Bova, aged 74, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina. Born on April 23, 1951, in Syracuse, New York, Mark lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family, career, and community.
Mark was the beloved husband of Patricia A. Bova, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his children: Scott Bova and his wife Renee, Jeff Hurley and his wife Amy, and Steven Bova and his wife Margaret. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Taylor, Kayley, Alexandra, Liza Jane, Jack, Cooper, and Charleigh. Mark is also survived by his siblings, JoAnne Bickford and her husband Mike, Richard Bova and his wife Denise, and Thomas Bova and his wife Kyle. He is remembered fondly by many other loving family members and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Richard B. and E. Anne Bova.
He graduated from West Genesee Central High School and attended Powelson Institute in New York. Mark’s professional journey included roles as a branch manager at various banking institutions and a mortgage closing agent in New York and Pennsylvania. His career was marked by dedication and a commitment to excellence.
A man of varied interests, Mark enjoyed playing golf, solving jigsaw puzzles, and tackling Sudoku challenges. He was an ardent supporter of Syracuse Orange football and basketball teams. Mark was also an active member of the Rotary Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he fostered many lasting friendships.
Throughout his life, Mark resided in several cities, including Syracuse, NY; Houston, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; and finally, Leland, NC. Each place held special memories and connections that enriched his life.
The family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Mark’s memory. His generous spirit and love for others will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
