SOUTHPORT — Priscilla Russ Gaskill, age 86, of Southport, North Carolina passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Priscilla was born May 27, 1939 in Southport, North Carolina, daughter of the late William Albert Russ, Sr. and Mary Rees Russ. She was truly a Southport native, being born and raised, remaining to raise her family her entire life. Mrs. Priscilla was a lifelong member of Southport Baptist Church since she was in the “cradle roll” class and continued teaching and attending until her declining health.
She retired from Brunswick County Board of Education after 36 years to care for her mother.
Her joy was found in spending time in daily Bible study and devotion and praying. She also loved spending time in her yard with her flowers, crocheting, reading, and coloring. Family was most important to her as she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. She had a sweet spirit and a heart of gold that would always make you feel special.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivey Gaskill, Sr., brothers, W.A. Russ, Eugene Russ, Jack Russ, and Jimmy Russ; and sister Mary Ann Wilkins.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Michele Gaskill Russell and husband Tim of Concord, North Carolina, Dawn Gaskill West and husband George of Southport, North Carolina, and Ivey Millard Gaskill, Jr. of Southport, North Carolina; grandchildren, Erin West, Tyler Russell and Jordan, and William Gaskill and friend Rachel; and precious great grandson, Saylor Russell; brother, Robert Earl Russ; special sister, Mary Russ; brother-in-law, Elbert Gaskill and wife Sandra; sister-in-law, Effie Louise “Jim” Gillikin; and numerous extended family.
