Max Herschel Offerman (Andrews Mortuary and Crematory)

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Max Herschel Offerman was born on October 26, 1931, in Galesburg, Illinois to Al and Ruth Offerman.

Max attended college at The University of Illinois and then served in the United States Air Force.

While serving in the military, he met his future wife’s cousin who set him up on a blind date with Muriel Kramer. Max and Muriel wed and soon after moved to Wallace, NC to join Muriel’s parents Harry and Vivian in their business, Kramer’s Dept. Store.

Over the years, they had 3 children: Sheri (Fred Opper), Lori (Jay Brinkley) and Mark and 7 grandchildren Chloe (Evan Zeldin), Charlie and Claudia, Dana (Stephen Bell) and Trent and Eddie and Emma. They had 5 great-grandchildren: Greyson, Brody and Oliver, Hudson and Vivienne.

After 30 years working at Kramer’s, Max and Muriel started a new chapter in Cary, NC, where Max retired and Muriel entered politics.

Years later they retired in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Max’s passions included keeping up with news/politics, listening to the band Chicago and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Tarheel Basketball team.

A family graveside service will be held.
