WILMINGTON — Robert Phillips Porter (1938-2025) passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025 at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Bob graduated from Tufts University with a degree in mechanical engineering, served as an Officer in the US Navy on an ROTC scholarship, and earned an MBA from Wharton School of Business.
Bob had an extensive career in business management from 1964 to 1991. He taught accounting and business law at Cape Fear Community College from 1992-2006.
Bob embraced each stage of his life with enthusiasm and passion for engaging in the community around him and quickly rose to leadership positions. His passion, kindness, and wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will also be remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith; his children, Kimberly (Sabat) and Amanda (Mark); and his grandchildren, Robert, Marion, and Anna.
A funeral service will be held on October 28, 2025 at 10:00am at St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James Church Music Ministry in Bob’s memory.
