WILMINGTON — Richard Leo Camp (aka Dick) died on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 88 years old at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Hospice, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Dick was born and grew up in upstate, New York (Endwell). He graduated from Union Endicott High School in Endicott, NY, in 1954, and attended Clarkson College in Potsdam, NY, from 1954-56. He also served in the United States Army from 1956-59 and was stationed in White Plains, NY.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy, of 62 years, two adult children, son Richard W. Camp, his wife Seana, of Daly City, California, and daughter Linda (Camp) Giuliani, and her husband Richard A., of New Paltz, New York, two sisters, Grace Dudderar, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Beatrice (Beebe) Hill, and son in law, Garrett Hill of Harve de Grace, Maryland. In addition, Richard is survived by his grandchildren, Madison and Caroline Giuliani of Portland, Oregon, Erica Bell and husband Alex Bell of Kingston, NY, Fiona Abrams of Ashville, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews, in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Arkansas.
Richard L. worked for the New York State Department of Transportation as a Senior Right of Way Agent for 30 years. He retired in 1995 and moved from Poughkeepsie, New York to Wilmington, North Carolina. He was able to enjoy his retirement travelling, playing golf, fixing and repairing whatever he could find, reading, spending time with friends and family, and going out to dinner.
A memorial service to remember the life of Dick will be held at a later date.
