HAMPSTEAD — Reverend Theresa Lanier Miller, 73, died Sunday, September 14, 2025 in Newark, Delaware.
She was born January 16, 1952 in Pender County, North Carolina where she was raised by her parents, Vernon Ray Lanier and Lucille England Lanier. In addition to her parents Theresa was preceded in death by her brother, Lavern Lanier
Theresa graduated from Topsail High School, Hampstead, NC and attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She later continued her education at Elam Bible College in New York and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Theresa was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR) and worked every national election since 1980. She was a voracious reader, loved gardening and all animals except snakes! She fed any animal who was hungry.
Theresa is survived by five children, Brandon Miller, Sr., Stevie Miller, Jesse Miller (Casey), Seth Miller (Erin), and Jessica Cook; grandchildren, Brandon Miller, Jr., Dean William, Nina Miller; Aria Miller, and Vera Miller; sister, Debbie Lanier (Michael); and innumerable cousins, and two aunts.
Memorial service will be held at in Wilmington, Delaware at a later date.
