Pittsburgh, PA, Judy was the eldest daughter of Dr. Paul and Marie Tuite (née Ober). On August 25, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, John “Jack” Moore, beginning a loving partnership that lasted 57 years. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, adventure, and family, raising three sons: Daniel John, Brian Paul, and Craig Tuite Moore.
Judy’s life was defined by her deep compassion and vibrant spirit. In the early 1970s, she earned her nursing degree from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and began her first career in elder care—a calling that reflected her heart for service. As Jack’s career with IBM took the family to new places, Judy embraced each move with grace and curiosity. Her entrepreneurial spark led her to open a charming antique shop and later, two beloved restaurants in Hillsborough and New Bern, NC.
A gifted cook and baker, Judy’s kitchen was the heart of her home. Her homemade nut rolls became a treasured holiday family tradition, and her happiest moments were spent around the dinner table, surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and her delicious food.
Judy is survived by her sons: Daniel (Mary) Moore, Brian (Michele) Moore, and Craig (Tracy) Moore; and her five grandchildren: Coady Welch, Kathryn “Katie” Moore, Caroline Moore, Brooke Moore, and Sean Moore. She also leaves behind several cousins and a legacy of love, resilience, and generosity that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jack, her sister Linda, and several aunts and uncles.
In keeping with Judy’s wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her care has been entrusted to Atlantic Cremation Service.
