WILMINGTON — Sherry Carroll Jacobs, born in February 1950, passed away peacefully August 5, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sherry lived a life rooted in love, nature, and family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Phil Jacobs, her cherished children: Felicia Goodgion and her husband, Lance, of Asheville, North Carolina; and Phillip Jacobs and his wife, Monica, of Wilmington, North Carolina. Among those closest to her was her beloved brother Joey Crisp (wife, Teresa) who held a very special place in her heart.
Sherry loved being a grandmother to River Goodgion (wife, Lauren), Phillip Michael Jacobs, and Grace Jacobs. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every role she played — always with warmth, humor, and love.
Sherry found her greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether tending her garden, casting a fishing line, or caring for her beloved horses and dogs, she felt most at home in nature’s quiet beauty. Her green thumb was legendary, she loved spending a day in the boat with her husband Phil, and her deep affection for animals reflected her gentle and courageous spirit.
To know Sherry was to know kindness, resilience, and a woman who embraced life with open arms and an open heart. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Visitation with the family is planned at 10:00am followed by a Memorial Celebration of Sherry’s life at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, North Carolina 28403.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cape Fear Equine Rescue or Steve Haydu Lo Tide Fund.
