WILMINGTON — Stephen Jesse “Steve” Ellison, 73, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Steve dedicated 30 years of his career to Praxair before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic and incredible talent with his hands, he could build just about anything. In his free time, he enjoyed relaxing with a good western movie and spending time with his family, whom he loved deeply.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Ellison; his sons, Jesse Ellison and wife Melanie, and Tommy Ellison and wife Trisha; his cherished grandchildren, Zachary Ellison, Savannah Ellison, and Garrett Ellison; and his great-grandchildren, Mia and Sadie Ellison. He is also survived by his sisters, Connie Roderick and Carol Holley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Jackie Ellison, and his brother, Greg Ellison.
Steve’s kindness, quiet strength, and love for his family will be remembered always.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Steve’s memory to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Wilmington, NC, whose care and compassion brought great comfort during his final days.
