WILMINGTON — Mark Eric DeCastro Rocha, 56, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away with family and friends by his side at Hospice Facility on Friday, August 18th, 2025. Mark was born August 16th, 1968 in Wheeling, WV.
He was a 1986 Graduate of East Preston High School in Terra Alta, WV. Following High School he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from Fairmont State College, Fairmont, WV. After leaving West Virginia, Mark found his home around Carolina Beach & Wilmington, North Carolina. Through the years he worked in several occupations, Graphic Design, Furniture & Mattress Sales, A Furniture Store Owner, Carpentry, and Wine Sales.
Mark was a fixture at the dock and loved to flounder fish. He would tell his friends he wanted to be known as the “Flounder Whisperer”. He was a free spirit, enjoyed riding his Harley, loved 80’s Metal/Rock, he did creative Artwork, enjoyed superhero movies, and loved Godzilla movies. Mark was a Jokester and enjoyed time with family and friends. But was still known as a very private person and set in his ways.
Mark is survived by Lidia Silva, (Nanny-who helped raise him) Oakland, MD. Sister Patricia Rocha of Pittsburgh, PA. Brother Michael Rocha & wife Stacey of Aurora, WV. Brother Alex Rocha, of Reedsville, WV. Nephew Ryan Rocha & wife Chelsey of Fairmont, WV, (two great nephews Lucas and Beau) Niece Haley Rocha of Elkins, WV. Nephew Christopher Zier, of Pittsburgh, PA (two great nephews Marcus and Jordan). Nephew Noah Rocha of Reedsville, WV.
He was preceded in death by his Father Dr. Hilton Rocha of Terra Alta, WV, and his Mother Edda Rocha, of Terra Alta, WV.
Mark had an extended family, Bryan & Michelle Carpenter, son Augustus, and daughter Abigail of Wilmington, NC. This is where he called home and liked to critique the cooking and baking. Close Friends: Kenny & Jenny Green, Wilmington, NC, Chris George, Raleigh, NC, and Rod Chase, Wilmington, NC.
