WILMINGTON — Barbara Depland passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare after a brief illness.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 10:30-11:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am both at the First United Methodist Church Sneads Ferry, 305 Lakeside Drive, Sneads Ferry, North Carolina 28460.
Inurnment will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, 17730 Hwy 17 North, Hampstead, NC 28443.
Born in Adams, Massachusetts, Barbara enjoyed a long career with GE, Pittsfield, Massachusetts; GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy and GE Aviation, Castle Hayne, NC, retiring after 48 years. She liked tending to her indoor and outdoor plants, sitting in her double-wide recliner with her cats reading, and spending time with her grandson, Asher. Barbara’s greatest joy came with the birth of her long-awaited grandson, Asher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Longin Lawrence Bobowiec and Martha Szpila Bobowiec.
Surviving family members are: husband, James Depland; daughter, Nicole Depland, and her husband, Michael Housand; grandson, Asher Housand of Hampstead, NC; and sister, Nancy Bobowiec Johnson of Surf City, NC.
