WILMINGTON — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marcy Wynne (Mestel) Gold. Born on April 12, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, Marcy was a beacon of joy and kindness whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marcy’s family was her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her sons, Jordan Mestel and Matthew Gold; her daughter-in-law, Katie Mestel; her beloved granddaughter Harper Mestel; her parents, Zelig and Rita Mestel; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Amy Mestel; and her grand dog, Mr. Joe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Gold, whom she joins in eternal rest.
Marcy was a woman of diverse interests and hobbies. She loved playing tennis and creating and designing t-shirts for various events. Known for her warmth and generosity, Marcy was always eager to help her friends and neighbors, whether through a kind word, helping with computer issues, or playing card games.
A dedicated Florida Gators fan, who never saw any of the sports lose while in attendance, Marcy’s enthusiasm for the team was only matched by her love for Louis Vuitton merchandise and sharing pictures and achievements of her family on social media.
Memorial services are being planned to honor Marcy’s life, with details forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hold your loved ones close, listen to some Tom Petty, remember Marcy’s unwavering kindness, and consider a donation in her name to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice and/or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
She will be remembered, and her memory will be cherished by all those whose lives she touched.
