WILMINGTON — In Loving Memory of Hang Ching Lam Chow, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend who passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare at the age of 92.
Born in Shanghai, China, Hang Ching moved with her family to Hong Kong at the age of 16. She married at 21 and lived in Hong Kong until 1975, when she immigrated to Jacksonville, North Carolina, with her children to reunite with her husband, who had moved to the United States in 1971 to prepare a new life for his family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, James Chow, and her eldest son, Tony Chow.
Hang Ching is survived by her six children: Ray, Mei-Yiu, Mei Ling, Lily, Sidney, and Connie. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to family, sharp wit, generosity, love of travel, and deep affection for her children.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, May 23, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Wilmington Funeral Chapel 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Onslow Memorial Park, 3280 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville, NC, where she will be laid to rest in the mausoleum beside her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
