WILMINGTON — David S. Lopez, age 46, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on July 31, 1978, in Lima, Peru, David led a life full of adventure, love, and dedication to his family and friends.

David grew up in Poquoson, Virginia, where he developed a lifelong passion for surfing and playing the guitar. An accomplished tennis player, he was known for his competitive spirit and sportsmanship on and off the court. After graduating from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia, David embarked on a diverse career path that showcased his versatility and leadership skills.

His professional journey began in sales at Sprint, where he honed his communication and negotiation abilities. He then spent nearly two decades as a dedicated manager at Bank of America, where he was respected by colleagues and customers alike for his integrity and commitment. Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, David also owned and operated a successful landscaping business. At the time of his passing, he was in training for a management position with AT&T, eager to embark on yet another chapter in his career.

David’s life took him from the shores of Poquoson, Virginia, to vibrant San Diego, California, before he settled in Wilmington, North Carolina. Despite the distances, he maintained close ties with a tight-knit group of childhood friends, who remained an integral part of his life over the years. His deep-rooted friendships and unwavering loyalty were a testament to his kind and generous nature.

David is survived by his loving parents, David Sandoval and Maria Teresa Lopez; his cherished daughters, Anabel and Lily Lopez; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory dear.

A celebration of David’s life will be held with family and friends in Poquoson, Virginia, followed by inurnment at a local cemetery. His family invites all who knew him to join in remembering a remarkable man whose legacy of love and friendship will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
