Robert Michael Heilman (Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park)

WILMINGTON — Bob Heilman passed away peacefully in the early morning of May 3, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Ft. Mead, MD to LTC Robert L. and Gloria M. Heilman on May 24, 1956.

After graduating High School in Bexley, Ohio, and a brief stint in food service, Bob pursued a self-employed career in residential cable and satellite installations. This allowed him to travel the country, including work in central Ohio, The Florida Keys, and the Hawaiian Islands. In 1999, Bob settled in North Carolina, where he started a home remodeling company, keeping him very busy, until he retired in 2019.

Bob had a huge heart and is well known and loved for helping many people in need, which included family and friends. Additionally, he loved dogs, especially Putty, Reese, and Bailey. He was a quiet man most of the time but was first to speak out when necessary. Those who knew Bob will remember him for his quick wit and laughter, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. (…and who can’t remember Bob without remembering him always driving a van?!)

Bob will be missed by his sisters Sue Myers, Kathy Studer, and Mary Ann Heilman and his brothers Tom and Steve. Additionally, he is survived by his stepmother Delores Heilman, stepbrother Steve O’Brien, stepsister Teresa Junker, as well as eight nieces and nephews. Finally, Bob’s close friend, Jason, is remembering him fondly. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers in law, Kim Myers and Rick Studer.

In lieu of a formal service, Bob’s family would like everyone to remember a good thought or story about him and to donate to your favorite charity, if you would like.
