CAROLINA BEACH — James Robert Brand, age 86, of Carolina Beach, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2025.
James was born in New York, New York on July 12, 1938, to his parents Robert Brand and Margaret Richards Brand.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Peggy Brand and his beloved Son-In-Law Joseph Carney.
James was a Retired Captain of the New York Fire Department Eng. 91 & 71. A New York Native, settled in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. He joined the United States Army in 1957 after his 2 years, James married his beautiful wife on May 19, 1962, Betty Henchy and they spent 63 wonderful years together.
Besides his 38 years in the New York Fire Department, he enjoyed spending time with his family. After Retirement he and Betty traveled the world sailing. James enjoyed keeping in touch with his brothers in the Fire Department. Well loved by all who shall miss him tremendously. His love is transcendent.
James is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Betty Henchy Brand. He has one daughter, Margaret Brand and two grandchildren, twins, Erin and Sean Carney of Carolina Beach. He has one son, James Michael Brand and wife Theresa Lane Brand of Wilmington, NC and a sister Cathy Brand Kraus of Berkeley Heights, NJ. He will be remembered by several nieces and nephews.
