WILMINGTON — Mildred (Midge) Shook Davis, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on April 16, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Perry G. Davis Sr. of Winnabow, NC; her daughter Maria Jones (Philip) of Winnabow, NC; sons Perry Davis Jr. and James Davis of Wilmington, NC; granddaughters Catherine Jacobs (Jonathan) of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Geena Fisher (Trevor) of Raleigh, NC; and grandsons Sam Davis and Ben Davis both of Wilmington, NC; along with her great-grandchildren Kennedy Jacobs, Hadley Jacobs and Beau Fisher whom she adored.
She is also survived by her sisters Mercedith Bacon of Bryson City, NC; Margie Fausel of Griffin, GA; Dyanne Pedersen of Danielsville, GA; and Linda Harmon of Jackson, GA along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of Virgie and Chastine Shook and was predeceased by three brothers, Del Shook, Donald Shook and James Shook.
Midge was a native of western NC and graduated from Marion High School. After living in Henderson County and raising her family for many years, she and Perry relocated to the coastal area of NC to be near children and grandchildren. She loved her family and loved to make special meals for them and make beautiful flower gardens wherever she lived.
Her fondest wish was for her children to get college educations and for that reason and to honor her memory, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the North Brunswick High School Scholarship Fund for First-Generation College Students in a Science Field.
