WILMINGTON — Vera Ann Martin, age 100, of Hendersonville, NC passed away with love ones by her side on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Born as Vera Andrusenko in New York, New York on September 19, 1924. She married her husband, Patrick Manuel Martin in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on July 19, 1940. They were married for 69 years.
Vera was preceded in death by a son Dennis, age 45 and husband Patrick, age 89. They had 5 children: Marie Elena (John Ranalli), Patricia ( Edward Riker) Dennis, JoAnne, and Karen (Gary Gray). Affectionately known as Nanny and Poppy, they had 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
When Patrick retired from the Long Island RR in 1975, they moved to Wilmington, NC. Pat and Vera were founding members of St. Marks Roman Catholic Church and were very active parishioners.
Together they traveled extensively and kept detailed records and photographs of the places they visited. Family was always their number 1 priority.
