SOUTHPORT — Mrs. Christine P. Shields Corrigan of Southport, NC (previously of Basking Ridge, NJ) passed away at the age of 58 on Friday March 21, 2025, at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, in Wilmington, NC.
Chris was predeceased by her parents, Martin T. Shields and Patricia L. Shields (née Matthew). Chris was born on October 22, 1966 in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from St. Joesph Hill Academy (1984) in Staten Island, NY. She earned a BA magna cum laude from Manhattan College (1988) and a JD with honors from Fordham University School of Law (1991).
Chris was an attorney, a published author, and a homemaker. Chris was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Southport, NC and was previously a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church of Basking Ridge, NJ.
Chris was an active member of the St. James, NC Service Club, Southport Yacht Club, and other organizations, where she was involved with communications.
Chris is survived by her husband Tim Corrigan, and children Kate (28) of Chicago, IL, Thomas (24) of Laramie, WY, and James (19) of Southport, NC; her brother Martin Shields of Staten Island, NY, and Jennifer Shields of Sayre, PA
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 5 to 7 pm at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home at 1411 N Howe St., Southport, NC.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9 am on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5269 Dosher Cutoff, Southport, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. James, NC Service Club, St. Francis Breadline, or a charity of your choice.
