WILMINGTON — It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Martorella, who passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2025 at the age of 91.
Mary was the beloved wife of Romeo Paul Martorella, with whom she shared 72 wonderful years of love, laughter, and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories, raising their three children and their five adored grandchildren.
Mary was a vibrant, strong-willed, funny, and endlessly lovable woman. Her presence could light up any room, and her quick wit and warm heart made her a joy to be around. She was fiercely devoted to her family, always putting their happiness above all else. Whether sharing a laugh, offering wisdom, or simply being a comforting presence, Mary’s love was a constant source of strength and joy.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Paula, Lisa, & Linda, and her grandchildren, Phoebe, Connor, Brian, Corinne, & Michael along with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of Mary’s incredible life will be held at Andrews Market Street Chapel, Wilmington, North Carolina on Friday, March 21st at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity very near and dear to Mary’s heart, in her memory.
Mary’s love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will never be forgotten.
