WILMINGTON — Dennis Gene Reed, Sr., a devoted father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the community, passed away on February 19, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina. Born on June 19, 1940, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, he lived a full and vibrant life of 84 years.
Dennis was a man of integrity and dedication. After serving honorably in the United States Army, he channeled his passion for automobiles into a successful career by establishing and operating his own automotive business. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A resident of Wilmington, North Carolina, Dennis was known for his love of classic automobiles, his skill in renovating houses, and his appreciation for old western movies. These interests reflected his deep appreciation for craftsmanship and history, which he shared with family and friends.
Dennis became a man of faith later in his life, which provided him with great comfort and guidance. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Hugh Reed and Garnet Postlewait Reed, and his cherished wife, Susan Reed. Their memories remained close to his heart.
He is survived by his loving son, Dennis Reed, Jr.; his devoted daughters, Deborah Reed and Pamela Thompson; and his treasured grandsons, Trey Reed and Jack Reed. His legacy of kindness, strength, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
