WILMINGTON — Suzanne was born in Dayton Ohio on June 5, 1930 and died on February 21, 2025 in Wilmington NC.
She is preceded in death by her Husband James L. Martin; sister Mary Ellen Ehinger and husband Paul Ehinger; Harold (Bud) Imbus MD and sister-in-law Ann; brother Ed Imbus and sister-in- law Marilyn.
She is survived by brother Don Imbus and sister-in-law Darlene; and step-daughter Susan Martin along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sue received an RN degree from Good Samaritan hospital in Dayton Ohio and worked many years as a surgical nurse. After leaving a nursing career she earned a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration from the University of Michigan where she met her husband James L. Martin. James had also earned a similar Master’s Degree.
Sue and Jim worked in Public Health Administration at various locations in the US including Oregon and Alaska. Their last assignment was Bethel Alaska, a town with 9 miles of gravel roads, but no roads in or out. Access was by water or airplane. Once a month Sue would fly with a bush pilot to Anchorage for groceries. In the 1980’s, after 7 years in Alaska, Sue and Jim retired to the Wilmington NC area. In retirement They were avid world travelers.
A Memorial Service and interment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery Columbarium, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC on Saturday May 3rd at 1:00pm.
