CAROLINA SHORES — Rita Lynn (Gee) Huffman, 57, of Hubert, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her own home on February 20, 2025, at 10:10 am. She was born on October 1, 1967, in Miami, Florida to the late Tony Gee, Sr. and Carol Clayton Gee.
A devoted homemaker, Rita’s life was centered around her family. Her love and dedication were evident in every meal she prepared and every craft she created.
Rita was a woman of many colors, known for her artistic flair and passion for crafts. Her talents found expression in many forms, from painting terracotta pots to adorning wooden shelves with her unique touch and hand lettering. In the kitchen, she was nothing short of wonderful, with her cheesecake being a favorite amongst family and friends.
A true wild card, Rita was unafraid to speak her mind, not one to sugarcoat her opinions and those who knew her knew better than to put her on speaker phone! Her blunt honesty was both refreshing and cherished by those who appreciated her authenticity.
Rita’s faith was an integral part of her life, nurtured during her time as a member of the Catholic community in Asheboro, NC where she spent most of her life. Her spiritual journey provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life.
Rita shared 13 wonderful years with her late husband, Robert Jessie, whom she has now joined in eternal rest along with her parents.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving family: her daughters, Heaven Huffman, Reba Price, and Crystal Cuevas; her son, Jimmy Price; her sons-in-law, Sergio Cuevas and Antonio McCrimmon; and her daughter-in-law, Nikki Minyard. Her eight grandchildren, Diana, Sergio Jr., Marcos, Jose, Angelina, Addy, Gracie, and Antonio Jr., were the lights of her life, and she adored each of them greatly. Rita is also survived by her nephew, Craig Maxfield, who held a special place in her heart.
In accordance with Rita’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Her family and friends will honor her memory in their own personal ways, celebrating the unique and vibrant spirit that was Rita Lynn Huffman. Though she has left this world, the colors she painted in the hearts of those she loved will never fade.
