WILMINGTON — Patti Devine Clark passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she had been living for the past several years.
Patti was born on December 4th, 1932, in Shelby, North Carolina, to Essie and Dewey Devine. She graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, and later moved to Greenville, North Carolina, where she met and married Joseph O. Clark, and there they raised their three children.
After retiring from East Carolina University Health Services, Patti enjoyed volunteering in various civic and nonprofit organizations in the Greenville area. Especially meaningful to her was her time with the Ronald McDonald House and the Service League’s Inpatient Hospice House. Patti was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she and Joe were founding members.
In addition to her parents, Patti was predeceased by her husband and her brother, Jackie Devine.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Layne Clark and husband Monty Grubb of Wilmington, son, Kenneth Bradley Clark and wife Dawn of Graham, NC, and daughter, Kathryn Devine Clark and friend Kristi Clark of Cedar Point, NC; grandchildren, Parker Sawyer Whitley and husband Matt of Wilson, NC, Clark Justin Sawyer of Nags Head, NC, and Daylon Grubb Mathews and husband Kyle of Wilmington NC; and great-granddaughters, Sawyer Grace and Palmer Layne Whitley.
As per Patti’s wishes, there will be no service.
