WILMINGTON — Michael Ray Capps, 60 of Wilmington, NC passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Michael, better known by everyone as “Uncle Mike”, was born August 7, 1964 of the late Rev. Larry Ronald Capps, Sr. and Rebecca Barnes Capps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katherine Ann Capps.
Uncle Mike is a true legend and lived his life full throttle, both in spirit and on his motorcycle. His infectious laugh and goofball nature made every moment spent with him an adventure.
Uncle Mike never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend within minutes of meeting him. He was the kind of man who could fix anything – sometimes with the proper tools, and sometimes with a little bit of “rig it up” engineering, but somehow it always worked. He had a gift of seeing potential where others saw junk because, to him, one man’s trash was always another man’s treasure.
Though he was hard of hearing, he never missed a beat when it came to sharing laughter, love and unforgettable stories. Every single person who knew Uncle Mike has a tale to tell about the way he made life more fun just by being in it. He wasn’t just the life of the party – he WAS the party!
He leaves behind a family who adored him: his daughter, Chrissy Capps, and his son, Dylan Capps and wife Nadia. He was the proud grandfather of Aidyn, Katie, Rion, and Camila Capps, who will carry on his adventurous spirit and knack for mischief. In addition, his legacy lives on through his siblings, Ronny Capps, LaWanda Capps, Shawn Capps and Brittany Osgood; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who loved him.
Though he may have ridden his final ride here on earth, we know he is revving up a bike in the great beyond, with the wind in his hair, grin on his face, and someone else’s lighter in his pocket. Ride free, Uncle Mike – you will never be forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Living Word Full Gospel Fellowship (formerly Trinity Tabernacle), 1029 George II Highway, Winnabow, NC, 28479.
