WILMINGTON — It is with great sadness that the family of William J. Whitacre, Jr., announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the age of 84.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 62 years, Nadine; children, Billy (Allison), Sheri (Tom), Jeff (Kim), Kelly (Rob); grandchildren, McKenzie (Dillon), William (Amanda), Allie, Katherine (Charles), Sarah, Emily, Zach, Michael, Matthew; sister, Barbara Cole, and numerous other family members and friends.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, William and Dorothy Whitacre, of Louisville, Kentucky.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 9:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington NC, 28412. Reception to follow, all welcome.
An additional Celebration of Life will be held for Bill’s family and friends in Sun City, Henderson, Nevada at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Operation Smile.
