WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Christopher Stewart Bender, a cherished resident of Wrightsville Beach, NC, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1972, in Charleston, SC, and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Chris is survived by his beloved son, Holton Bender, who was the light of his life; his devoted mother, Deanne Bender; his brothers, David Bender and wife Anna, and Stephen Bender and wife Nancy; and his niece and nephews, Stephanie Bender, Kevin Bender, Daniel Bender, and Michael Bender. He was preceded in death by his father, James Bender, whom he deeply admired.

Raised in Annandale, VA, Chris was a proud graduate of WT Woodson High School, class of 1990, and East Carolina University, class of 1995. He was a proud member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity where he served as President. Following his college years, he joined the auto wholesale business alongside his close family friend and mentor, Earl Davis, remaining dedicated to the same company for the rest of his career.

Chris lived his life with passion and purpose, especially as a devoted father. He shared countless joyful moments with his son, whether on the water or simply enjoying life together. An avid boater and fisherman, Chris found his happiest days cruising the sparkling waters of Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington, surrounded by the serenity of the sea and the people he loved.

His unwavering loyalty and kind heart left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Chris’s sense of humor and zest for life will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.

Chris’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Raleigh NC. The time and location will be announced in the coming weeks. His family will invite all who were touched by his spirit to join in honoring his remarkable life.
