Carol Hendrix Sellers, 80

Carol Hendrix Sellers (Atlantic Cremation Services)

WILMINGTON — Carol Hendrix Sellers, affectionately known as “Bubby” by her grandchildren and others, went to be with Jesus on January 22, 2025, after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Robeson County, North Carolina, on April 19, 1944, Carol later made her home in Wilmington, where she became a beloved part of the community.

Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was whimsical, a voracious reader, and a master gardener, with a natural ability to cultivate both plants and relationships. Her faith in Jesus was unwavering, and one of her most cherished memories was walking in Jerusalem, following in His footsteps. She delighted in traveling with her family, whether cruising the Caribbean with her husband, skiing the slopes of France, or creating magical memories with her grandchildren at Disney World.

Known for her boundless grace, loyalty, and kindness, Carol was a steadfast presence in the lives of those she loved. Ever prepared, she was the perfect companion for any occasion—be it an adventurous trip, a shopping excursion, a church service, or quiet moments on the front porch planting flowers.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Sara Barlow Hendrix and William James Hendrix, her beloved husband, Donald Archie Sellers, and her sister, Cheri Hendrix Allen.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Sellers Wiechman (Steve) and Susan Sellers Johnson (Loran); her sisters, Joette Hendrix Smith and Patsy Hendrix Jenkins (Dean); her cherished grandchildren, Gloria Fitch Cudicio-Hayden, Elizabeth Smith Henson (Stephen), Mary Nell Johnson, William Trask Johnson, and Gabriela Lyons Cudicio; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hendrix Henson; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Though we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, we find comfort in knowing she is now with Jesus, reunited with her husband and their beloved dog, Ruby, and dancing in heaven.

A private family memorial service will be held this spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in her honor.
