WILMINGTON — Rodrigo Taibo, 51, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, January 8, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Rodrigo first moved to the United States in 1995, carrying with him many dreams and hopes for a bright future. He worked tirelessly to support his family and provide for them financially. Later in his life, he returned to his beloved home country of Chile, where he chose to settle and build the next chapter of his life. In Chile, Rodrigo met his then girlfriend and experienced the greatest joy of becoming a father to his beautiful daughter, Antonella. Rodrigo moved back to the United States in 2022 and spent most of his time with his sister and brothers while working at King of the Sea restaurant as a cook under his boss and friend John Papanikolaou.
Rodrigo found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing golf, admiring aquariums and fish, spending time with his family and, above all, if you knew him, he enjoyed savoring a hot delicious meal.
Rodrigo is survived by his mother, Helia Munoz; his father, Manuel Taibo his daughter, Antonella; his brothers, Guillermo Taibo, Javier Taibo, and Eduardo Taibo; and his sister, Silvana Temblador and Alba Ruz.
Rodrigo cherished the special bond he shared with his close cousins, Estrella Gutierrez and Marcos Gutierrez. He was also deeply loved by his many other cousins, nieces, and nephews, who brought joy and support to his life over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, January 18, at Andrews Market Street Chapel.
