OAK ISLAND — Joseph John “Joe” Yedziniak Jr., age 86, of Oak Island, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Mr. Yedziniak was born September 12, 1938 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Joe and Josephine Yedziniak. Joe was a veteran of the US Army and a graduate of Alliance College in Erie, PA. He was a natural athlete that focused on bowling as a young adult and transitioned to golf in later years. Joe competed locally in many golf tournaments and was a member of the Boiling Spring Lakes Golf Club. He coached all his children in baseball.
Joe met his wife Walli at a Polish dance in Crystal Lake, CT, shortly after he had been drafted into the US Army. They married in 1965 and enjoyed 58 years together. In 1966 they moved to New Bern, NC where he worked for Stanley Power Tools. Later they moved to Derwood, MD, retiring to Oak Island in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Walli Yedziniak; three children, Jay Yedziniak, Jennifer Yedziniak Palmer and husband Stephen, Bill Yedziniak; three grandchildren, Madeline Palmer, Josie Palmer, and Sophie Palmer; a sister, Evelyn Gallant and husband Larry; and a brother, David Yedziniak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Fialkewicz and Joyce Varhue.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in the Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. The family will have visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
