WILMINGTON — Nadia Daughtridge Coble, 94, of Wilmington NC passed away on October 14, 2024 at Champions Assisted Living. Nadia was born on November 3, 1929 in Rocky Mount, NC to Arthur Lee and Thelma Crawley Daughtridge.
She graduated from Rocky Mount High School and received a degree in elementary education from Women’s College, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Nadia taught school in Raleigh before marrying George William Coble in June 1954 where they lived in High Point, NC before retiring to Wilmington, NC.
Nadia was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Daughtridge and husband George Coble.
She is survived by daughter Lee Coble Worden and husband Richard of Sneads Ferry, NC; son John Lloyd Coble and wife Mary of Wilmington, NC; son William Daughtridge Coble and wife Kim of Nakuru, Kenya; grandchildren Lizzie Worden Merritt and husband Dan of Raleigh, NC; Sarah Worden of Tulsa, OK; Rebecca Worden Kociuk and husband Michael of Raleigh, NC; Jay Coble and wife Eliza Netter of Atlanta, GA; Kate Coble Dawson and husband James of Wilmington, NC; and great-grandchildren Jake Merritt, Anna Merritt, Nora Merritt, Liam Kociuk, Beau Kociuk, Oscar Coble and Alden Dawson; sister-in-law Nina Daughtridge of Rocky Mount, NC; niece Nina Beth Thornton and husband Hal of Penhook, VA; nephew Warren Daughtridge and wife Caren of Rocky Mount, NC.
Nadia is a past member of the High Point Junior League and past president of the High Point Arts Council. She will be remembered by all for her love of family, cooking, the beach, painting, bridge and rummikub.
A private family celebration will be held on Nadia’s 95th birthday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Start with One Kenya in Nadia’s memory.
