Christian Gregory Decker, 52

Christian Gregory Decker (Atlantic Cremation Services)

WILMINGTON — Christian Gregory Decker of Wilmington, NC, entered eternal rest on October 10th, 2024, after a courageous journey with pancreatic cancer.

A man of many passions, Christian spent two decades working as a professional chef in Philadelphia before embracing a new path in science. In his late thirties, he returned to university and earned a master’s degree in chemistry, transforming his culinary creativity into a love for the lab. He spent his final years as an analytical chemist with Alcami Corporation in Wilmington.

Christian’s adventurous spirit and reverence for the beauty of God’s creation were defining aspects of his life. Those who knew him experienced his deep connection to nature and faith. His later years were filled with hikes through the Appalachians and religious pilgrimages, including visits to sacred sites like Our Lady of Guadalupe, Medjugorje, and his final transformative journey completing the 500-mile Camino de Santiago in August.

Christian is survived by his loving wife and fellow chemist, Jacqueline Powell; his devoted parents, Gregory and Theresa Decker; and his sister, Jessica Hand, her husband, Michael, and their children, Stella and Lucas. Christian’s life was a testament to faith, love, and the pursuit of both knowledge and adventure. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
