WILMINGTON — John Robert Andrew, Jr., 83, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
He was born May 24, 1941, in Greensboro, NC, to the late John Robert Andrew, Sr. and Inez Caudill Andrew.
Robert served 10 years in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. At Camp Lejeune, his love of fishing earned him the job of captain of the general’s yacht. After returning from Vietnam, he was assigned to teach at the Marine corps Schools at Quantico, VA.
After the Marine Corps, he worked at GE in Wilmington, where he retired as a supervisor in the Aircraft Engine Division.
He was a member for 58 years of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and always enjoyed the men’s breakfast. His favorite hobbies were golf and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Harriett P. Andrew; son, David Andrew (Katrina); daughter, Patricia Ennis (Brian); grandchildren, John Andrew, Grace Andrew, Ethan Ennis and Emma Ennis.
