WILMINGTON — Adam Dominic Schwartzel 44, of Wilmington died on Tuesday October 8, 2024.
Adam was a Sergeant with the Wilmington Police Department and was sworn in July 2002, and was a respected member for 22 years in various Police Departments. (Patrol, Mounted Unit, Traffic Unit and was the first supervisor for the Virtual Response Unit)
Adam also served as an instructor for law enforcement training at Cape Fear Community College and Brunswick Community College. He was an instructor and leader for NC Radar Certification team.
He is survived by his parents, Gerard A (Gerry) and Carolyn M (Toni) Schwartzel, a son Jon Abbott Schwartzel and daughter Campbell Annette Schwartzel, sister Amy McKenna Naylon and brother John Teague Schwartzel. He is preceded in death by brother Joseph G Schwartzel.
A funeral Mass will be conducted 10:30 AM on Friday October 18, 2024 at Basilica of Saint Mary.
The family will see friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday afternoon October 17, 2024 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
