HAMPSTEAD — Margarete S. Kirby 86, of Hampstead died Friday, October 11, 2024 at Woodbury Wellness Center surrounded by her family.
She was born January 23, 1930 in Munich, Germany, a daughter of the late Johann and Barbara Stark.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years Jesse Kirby, her brother Eric Stark, her sister Maxine Stark, her daughter Barbara Hardison and her grandson Jospeh Robinson.
Margarete also leaves behind her sister Elsa Hutterer of Munich, Germany, daughter Margarete Robinson of Hampstead, NC. Grandchildren Sylvia and husband Joey Mintz of Hampstead, NC, Brian and wife Allison Tutherow of Jacksonville, NC, Michael and wife Lee Ann Hardison of Kinston, NC. Great-Grandchildren Samatha, Sara, Austin, Mason, Anna Lee and Great-Great Grandson Emmett, son in law David Hardison of Holly Ridge, NC and niece Barbara Stark of Munich, Germany.
Margarete loves spending time with her family and friends. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, outdoor functions, and playing cards.
The family will receive friends and family at the home.
In leu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pender County Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
