It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Evan T. Jenkins, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on October 12th, 2024. He was 78 years old.
For 55 wonderful years, Evan shared an unwavering commitment to his beloved wife Karen. Together they had a beautiful family, raising two children and becoming grandparents to five grandchildren who lovingly called him “Poppop.” His family was his pride and joy, and he constantly went out of his way to make sure they always felt loved.
A man of integrity and honor, Evan led by example, showing those around him the importance of compassion, hard work, and loyalty. His infectious laugh could brighten any room and he always put those he loved first.
In his professional life, Evan spent 26 years as a Secret Service agent followed by work in the private sector as the Director of Global Corporate Security for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Rohm & Haas. This work allowed him and Karen the opportunity to relocate from Philadelphia, PA down to Southport, NC where you could always find him on the golf course.
He was an amazing man to his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife Karen; children, Michelle, (Dan) and Brian, (Ana); grandchildren; Jack, Madeline, Connor, Sarah, and Tyler, sister Lois, as well as Matt, Zane, Sami, Eden, and Milton (Grace) who also call him Poppop. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life service will be held on October 19th at Andrews Funeral Parlor, 4108 College Rd. in Wilmington, NC at 10 am. We ask that friends and family kindly arrive after 9.
Afterwards, please join us at Trinity Landing, 5450 Trinity Landing Way in Wilmington for lunch. Evan would have wanted everyone together and sharing stories. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers in Evan’s honor.
