William Earl Faircloth, 73

WILMINGTON — William Earl Faircloth, known to many as Bill, left this earth to be home with our Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family and friends on October 3, 2024.

William was married to the love of his life, Debby Faircloth, for 53 years. He was a loving and devoted father to Billy Faircloth (Teresa) and Katie Schlipp (Michael). His heart was further blessed with four grandchildren: Lance, Pilar, Sloane, and Brock; each of whom he loved and adored deeply.

Born on October 10, 1950, in Wilmington, North Carolina, William was the son of the late Clyde Ernest Faircloth, Sr. and Minnie Ruth Edwards Faircloth. He was preceded in death by his brothers Clyde Ernest Faircloth Jr. (Sheila) and Charles Victor Faircloth (Vicky) but leaves behind his beloved brothers, Jerry Thomas Faircloth (Tierney) and Raymond Franklin Faircloth Sr. (Jenny); with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and precious friends, who all held a special place in his heart.

William’s life was a testament of his deep faith and love for Christ. A devoted member of Scotts Hill Baptist Church, he was often found serving others through his faith, embodying the hands and feet of Jesus. His faith guided every aspect of his life, from how he raised his children to how he cherished his family and friends. William had an earnest desire to help lead others to Christ. He believed every encounter was a chance to touch a life with the hope of the gospel.

William was known for his unwavering positivity and humble spirit. He never complained, always seeking the good in every situation. His optimism and kind heart were a constant source of encouragement to those around him. He believed in seeing the positive side of life and inspired others to do the same.

William spent over 28 years working as an industrial mechanic at DuPont. After his tenure at DuPont, he continued his career as a technician with Peak Traffic for another eight years. Outside of work, some of William’s many hobbies were seeking a good deal at local pawn shops, tinkering with computers, fishing with his good buddy Jimmy Rowell, visiting with friends and family, spending time with his small connect group, enjoying his weekly neighborhood and men’s bible studies. Many shared moments like these will forever live on in our hearts.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to shine in the lives of those he touched.

A celebration of William’s life will be held at Scotts Hill Baptist Church with a gathering of family and friends at 3:00 pm and a service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made online or by mail to: Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
