WILMINGTON — Joseph Everett Powers, age 62, passed from his earthly life suddenly on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at home while out tending to his chickens, a favorite hobby of his.
He was born in Wilmington, the son of Sue Moore Powers and the late Gene Gray Powers.
In addition to his mother Joe is survived by his fiancée, Windy Giuliano and Windy’s children, Patrick Giuliano, Christopher Giuliano, and Amber Giuliano; sisters, Kimberly Barnhill (Jacob) and Sonya Powers (Wesley Cook); brother, Stanley Powers (Gloria); nieces, Amber Lisiewski (Craig) and Shelby Powers; nephews, Jake Barnhill (Audrey), Austin Powers (Kay), and Justin Barnhill; nine great nieces and nephews; Joe’s best friend and uncle, David Powers; many extended family and friends all who loved Joe.
After many years of working Joe retired from his Civil Service employment at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville.
A man is blessed to have a loving family, and faithful friends – Joe was such a man. Joe had a heart of gold, sharing spirit, and an unwavering willingness to help others. Joe was kindhearted, lover of life, avid hunter, and was grace giving man.
