WILMINGTON — With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia Ann Jones, aged 76, who departed this world on September 9, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on October 20, 1947, in Boone, North Carolina, Cynthia lived a life full of love, joy, and cherished memories.
Cynthia had a profound passion for gardening, found immense pleasure in reading, and was a devoted fan of HGTV which went along with her love for decorating. She was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and a proud member of the Bills Mafia. (Go Bills!)
The true essence of Cynthia’s life lay in her dedication to family. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, making wonderful memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. Watching her grandchildren grow was the highlight of her life, and she took exceptional pride in being an integral part of their journeys.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her father Glenn William Schumaker, mother Anna Lee Schumaker; she was preceded in death by her husband, “the love of her life, Charles Reece Jones; brother Doug Schumaker (Debbie), brothers-in-law Tom Jones (Rosie) and Larry Jones (Kathy), and nephew Donnie.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her beloved children Shelly Rider (Tom), Nanci Janssen (Jan), Lori Fitch, Jay Jones, and Cristin Nolan (Mike). Her sister Susanne Sturtz, sisters-in-law Roseanne Jones (Tom) and Nancy Jones Caliano ( Joe) and brother-in-law John Jones also survive her. She was a proud grandmother to Jerrika Swartz (Dave), Kelsey Kendall (James), Madison Insco, Lily Insco, Trevor Jones, Landon Charles Nolan, and Callie Nolan, and a great-grandmother to Koen, Ezra, and Eden Kendall, as well as Landry and Reeve Swartz.
Her legacy lives on in the numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she adored, along with her lifelong friends who held special places in her heart.
A celebration of Cynthia Ann Jones’s life will be held at a later date. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, and she will be missed dearly by those whose lives she touched.
