WILMINGTON — Robert LaGoe went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2024.
Born on July 29, 1941 in Oswego, NY, the son of Wilbrod and Jane LaGoe, he attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and was an altar boy and choir boy.
Upon graduation from Oswego High School, he served in the U.S. Navy, obtaining the rank of Radarman 2 Class (E-5). After separation, he was hired by Alcan Aluminum
Corp as a Q-lab technician, analyzing the first ingot poured on 2-22-1963. In 1968 he resigned from Alcan to attend SUNY Oswego and graduated in 1971with a BA. In 1967
he wed Evelyn Jackson of Staten Island, NY.
He conducted a successful career in construction, industrial, and municipal sales, peaking as the International Sales Manager for Certain-Teed Corp, Valley Forge, PA.
His duties required him to travel extensively worldwide securing projects and consulting with engineers, and foreign and domestic funding agencies.
Upon retirement he relocated to Wilmington, NC and devoted his time to his family, model train clubs and Senior Sports.
A parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, he is survived by his devoted and loved wife, Evelyn of Wilmington, NC, a daughter, Lisa, of Wilmington, NC, a son, Michael, of High Point, NC and a granddaughter, Kaitlin, of Wilmington, NC.
A memorial service will conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday September 21, 2024 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s and the ASPCA would be appreciated.
